Praxis Framework™ Foundation Overview

This three-day training course aims to provide delegates with a foundational understanding of the Praxis Framework™. Praxis is a methodology that has been developed in response to the recent expansion of P3 Management. It is a unique framework that amalgamates all three elements of Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management. During this Praxis Framework™ Foundation training course, delegates will be introduced to all four pivotal features that comprise the Praxis framework. These are Knowledge, Method, Competence, and Capability Maturity. Upon completion of this course, delegates will have gained an awareness of the Praxis Framework™ and these four components.

This Praxis Framework™ Foundation training course begins by covering the concept of ‘Knowledge’. This module explores the complexity of projects, programmes, and portfolios, and demonstrates how this attribute makes it difficult to differentiate between them. Furthermore, contextual and managerial notions are explained and delegates will become familiar with the influence of certain conditions upon projects, programmes, and portfolios within organisations. To provide a complete overview of this Praxis component, this course will also cover the practice of management, including interpersonal techniques.

Following ‘Knowledge’ is the ‘Method’ section of the course, which will cover essential aspects of Praxis Process Models and documentation. All project and programme, delivery, and portfolio processes will be studied, as they utilise functional tools and mechanisms, and provide an approach centred around the life cycle. Our instructors will move on to demonstrate the importance of governance, scope, and delivery documentation, and management plans. These are crucial to consider to ensure the effective governance of a project, programme, or portfolio.

The third part of Praxis is ‘Competence’. There are three competencies described in Praxis, which will be described and explained. The first competency is linked to delivery within the knowledge component, the second corresponds with the individual processes as shown in the method section, and the third competency addresses the interpersonal skills as outlined in the knowledge element. These competencies should be changed in order to be adopted by an organisation, with consideration of their specific business environment.

The fourth element taught during this Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Praxis Framework™ Practitioner course is ‘Capability Maturity’. This is a model that guides organisations through the process of delivering projects, programmes, and portfolios effectively. Capability Maturity is flexible and adaptable and should be considered both internally and externally. It can be altered in order to correspond to different contexts, but it can also remain consistent so as to allow for comparison between contrasting organisations. After studying this module, delegates will have completed the Praxis Framework™ Foundation course and will have gained a fundamental understanding of the Praxis Framework™.

If delegates are interested in completing both Foundation and Practitioner levels simultaneously, then this can be achieved through The Knowledge Academy with our Praxis Framework™ Foundation and Practitioner course.
